Safeguarding your child
Please speak to your child’s class teacher if you have any concerns. If you are still concerned, see Mrs Atkinson our Safeguarding Manager, our Assistant Headteachers or the Deputy Head Teacher. If your concern involves the organisation or management of the school, then please see the Head Teacher.
Safeguarding your child
We have a duty of care for all children who attend Lodge and are bound by laws governing child protection issues. On rare occasions when we have a concern about a child, this may mean contacting the necessary authorities, as we are legally bound to do so. Where possible, we will discuss our concerns with you before making contact with other agencies.
Designated Members of Staff
If you have any worries, then please speak to Mrs Atkinson our Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL). Deputy DSLs are Mrs Khatun (Headteacher), Mrs Munn (Deputy HT), Miss Steer (Assistant HT). Mr Earnshaw (Assistant HT), Mrs McNeela (Assistant HT), Mr Nahal (Business Manager), Mrs Mahoney (Learning Mentor) and Mrs Akram (Attendance Lead). Our Designated members of staff are fully trained and receive updated training every 2 years.
Operation Encompass
Operation Encompass is a police and Education early intervention safeguarding partnership that supports children and young people exposed to Domestic Abuse. It aims to ensure Schools are notified in a timely manner of any Domestic Abuse incident where child/ren are present or registered at the address. This early notification should mean that, in the majority of cases, schools are alerted in readiness for the children arriving at school the first working day following an incident.
Lodge Primary School is part of Operation Encompass which is a national scheme that operates jointly between schools and police forces.
Operation Encompass is the reporting to schools, prior to the start of the next school day, when a child or young person has experienced domestic abuse. As a school we have ensured that a member of our staff, (Designated Safeguarding Lead) known as a Key Adult, has been trained in the Operation Encompass procedures allowing us to then use the information that has been shared, in confidence, to support the child/ren in our care.
The Domestic Abuse Act 2021 identifies children who experience domestic abuse as victims of domestic abuse in their own right. We are keen to offer the best support possible to all our pupils and we believe this will be extremely beneficial for all those involved.
